Bursaries

This year, applications for bursaries have been integrated into the abstract submission process. Taking into account the 2021 EPSC participants feedback, the aim of the new system is to reduce some of the up-front payments made by the bursary recipients.

The bursary selection process will take place after the abstract associated with the application has been accepted by conveners for presentation at the conference (oral or poster). Please note that you will still need to pay the abstract processing fee of €50. However, this fee will be refunded to successful bursary applicants.

Please note that bursary applications are only possible during the abstract submission process, which closes on 18 May 2022 at 13:00 CEST.

EPSC2022 participants may apply for bursaries under the following categories:

  1. Early Career Professional and Student bursaries*
  2. EANA Early Career Professional and Student bursaries*
  3. Under-Represented State (European) bursaries**
  4. Under-Represented State (non-European) bursaries***
  5. Amateur bursaries
  6. Outreach/Teacher bursaries

To apply, please select the appropriate bursary category during abstract submission process and upload your filled out Bursary Form. The Bursary Form can be downloaded below as .docx file. The filled out form has to be converted to .pdf before uploading it in the abstract submission process. Eligible applicants must be the submitting/contact author, as well as the presenting author of the abstract.

Applicants will be notified by the end of June as to whether their application for a bursary has been selected. Please note that we have two different Early Career support schemes this year due to our joint conference with EANA. The EANA Early Career travel grant is open to all interested Astrobiologists and will cover the same bursary as the standard Early Career bursary, plus a one-year free membership in the EANA network. Participants applying for the EANA Early Career bursary scheme but not being selected (due to limited funds) will still be considered for the standard Early Career bursary.

Successful applicants will receive:

  • a refund of their Abstract Processing Fee
  • a waiver for the registration fee
  • a travel grant capped at €250, supported by the presentation of invoices/receipts for travel and accommodation, to be reimbursed after the meeting.****
